Wildlife Matters grew from a lifelong passion for wildlife and the natural world. Our core values are to nurture, protect, restore, and educate people to reconnect them and welcome back nature. We have built a community through our #wildlifematters #podcast that promotes our core values and educates, informs, and, we hope, entertains through storytelling.

Nurture
We define nurture as care and protection. Wildlife Matters works to care for and protect habitats, biodiversity, and species of fauna and flora on the land and in our rivers, lakes, and oceans.
What are we doing?
Our #dirtywater campaign urgently addresses the pollution on Britain’s rivers and inland waterways caused by agricultural runoff, sewage, and flood water discharges.
Our #wildlifeneedsyou looks at how we can all help British wildlife species, such as hedgehogs, newts, butterflies and bats, who all find it hard to thrive and survive in our fast-paced modern world.

Protection
We define Protection as taking direct action to protect British wildlife.
In #wildlifemattersinvestigates, we outline our campaign to #endhunting with packs of dogs, including fox hunting, hare, deer, mink, and otter hunting. We aim to protect the natural balance of our ecosystems and prevent unnecessary wildlife suffering. Protect also means banning trail hunting, which has the single purpose of deceiving the police and justice system that hunters are not hunting illegally—which they are.
We have worked tirelessly to end the Badger culls in England for 15 years since the opposition Conservative Party first muted them. You will find articles on our website explaining why they have been ineffective at tackling bovine TB, as the disease is in the head, not the clan. In late summer 2024, we are working with a new Labour government that has pledged to #endthebadgerculls, a significant step forward in our mission.
We have been working to end Driven Grouse Shooting since 2016. Our work is focused on the monoculture of grouse and the cruel trapping and poisoning of our native wildlife, including raptors, foxes, stoats, badgers, and corvids, amongst many others. Our campaign is #bloodonthemoors
We are also exposing the enormous subsidies paid to upland and moor owners to develop the upland habitat when, in reality, they are producing a monoculture of heather and grouse or perhaps red partridge and pheasant, depending on where you are in the country, so they can then charge punters thousands of pounds to shoot them.
Our protection extends to addressing wildlife crime in Britain. This includes the resurgence of hideous activities such as Hare coursing, Deer poaching, and Badger persecution—including baiting, snaring, shooting, and disturbance of setts. Bird of Prey persecution—through poisoning, trapping, shooting, disturbance of nests, and theft of chicks. Bat persecution and Fish poaching.

Restore
We are working to restore habitats, biodiversity, and species. Our campaigns lead to projects where we can deliver benefits in the local environment. #restorethewild
This includes hedgerow planting and restoration, grasslands and meadows, and species monitoring from moths and butterflies to newts and lizards to bats and hedgehogs. These are our current campaigns, but we plan to restore habitats and biodiversity and support species of plants and animals on land and in our waterways.

Educate
We strive to inform and educate so everyone can enjoy the beauty and importance of wildlife and the natural world. To help spread our message, we run our education-based campaigns.
Our campaigns include #waterforwildlife, #wellbeinginthewild, and #wildlifewalks.
We are also planning a unique woodland-based education centre where everyone can learn more about wildlife and the natural world.
Your support is crucial to help give wildlife a voice as we stand up for nature.
